    Photos from smartphones are a waste of time, their quality is terrible and they have huge limitations. Smartphones are very inconvenient to take photos with, you can't use an external flash, they're bulky, and they're bigger than a great camera like the Ricoh GRIII. Smartphone photos are plastic, lack of details, very poor dynamics, terrible distortions caused by very bad lenses, the only relatively useful ISO is 100. Do you ride bikes? So take a photo on the bike route. You may be surprised that one wheel is much larger than the other. Smartphone lenses have such terrible distortions. If I want something small to photograph, I take the Ricoh GRIII, which is smaller than any smartphone and takes fantastic photos. I would like to have nice photos from my holidays, so I never take them with my smartphone. I made the mistake of taking my smartphone on vacation once and I will never make that mistake again. These photos cannot be taken again. They were lost.

    The video was purchased from Panasonic. But that doesn't make the S9 any better. Everything in the comparison applies to almost every other DSLM. Nice try, I hope Panasonic pays well? You're losing trust in your channel right now.

    The SIZE of the SENSOR has NOTHING do to with the quality. A 24mp bayer sensor on Full Frame, and a 24mp 1 inch Sensor will give the same detail level given that the glass or lens is of the same quality. The reason the iPhone looks worse is because of its processing (Among other things) I'm surprised that someone shooting for over a decade will start of the video with such a big lie to their audience! Please do better and learn how sensors works i.e. its circuitry that affects dynamic range, Pixel density, how Camera arrays like Bayer, X Trans, Quad Bayer, Foveon affect effective resolution vs pixel resolution before stating such falsehoods

    • @Calibr21
      @Calibr21 12 годин тому

      Larger sensors absolutely produce higher quality images. They literally store more photoelectrons which is the biggest contributor to dynamic range. Google full well capacity and pixel saturation.

    • @joeljrichards
      @joeljrichards 12 годин тому

      You are correct that color filters, silicon generations (die size), wiring, and other technologies affect image quality but sensor size absolutely affects image quality. To demonstrate this most clearly, do some research and look for comparison of film sizes. With film (135 vs 120 for example) you are equalizing the "sensor" quality/technology as the same film stock is available in different sizes (this is pretty rare in digital cameras). If you examine the comparisons you will find that as you move up in film size there is a definite (sometimes extreme, sometimes subtle) jump in image quality. Digital muddies the water because advances in silicon can (at typical sensitivity levels-what we still call ISO) negate the advantage of a larger capture area/sensor physically collecting more electrons than a smaller sensor. Hence in digital photography the size of the sensor has become just one factor among many that affects image quality (whereas in film it was one of the ONLY factors outside lens quality). Perhaps the presenters emphasized sensor size too much but they aren't wrong or perpetuating a "big lie".

    I can't seem to justify the GFX from the A7rv. Base on this test the GFX should not exists. Why buy the larger sensor of GFX when they are basically the same with image quality. I know about medium format look and the GFX doesn't give the real medium format look from the 645. GFX is trash

    One tip I've learned if you're using a delay timer in instead of a remote trigger on AV mode is TURN OFF ALL LIGHTS PRIOR TO DELAY TIMER. I assumed mt Canon would make the decisions at end of the delay, but shutting lights off mid delay for some reason effects the AV. Full manual works best, and manual focus.

    I'd say at best, this is like comparing apples to oranges. The Z8 is purpose built for speed and high resolution, the Fuji is built for resolution primarily. For most people, the Z8 would be a more suitable, well-rounded camera for anything. I'd probably only say to get the GFX 100 series if you're doing landscape or commercial work or anything you know will be printed large for sure (that requires that many megapixels) but for most people, the Z8 will be plenty (after all, it's like 95% of Nikon's flagship camera in a smaller, cheaper body). The ideal solution, if money is no object, is to have a Z8, maybe a Z6 III or Zf, and a GFX 100 to cover pretty much everything one could possibly need. But that would be an expensive setup when you add in lenses for both systems.

    From your comparison, it looks like the 33 Mp of the Sony compared to the 24 Mp of the Lumix are just a horse power number. It is simply amazing how good is the Lumix in stabilization, by far the best. Thanks for this nice review. Lumix is the clear winner.

    The lack of a proper lens selection in RF mount made me choose the A6700 ! If someone chooses APSC it's not for being carrying RF full frame glass which are heavy, bulky and way too expensive ! You should test the A6700 with some Sigma or Tamron APSC lenses ;-) Even Viltrox has some amazing glass for that camera, the 27mm f/1.2 and the 75mm f/1.2 are brilliant ! I'm actually considering to buy a second A6700 !

    Yes, focal length plays a roll in a subjects features, but angle in relationship to lens hight is just as critical. Compression is the key element of the longer lens, but angle is more critical. You really need to study your subjects facial features first before you do anything. Thats how you determine lighting and lens selection for your subject.

    This effect isn't a direct effect of focal length, it's associated with the distance from the camera to the subject. It is frequently associated with focal length due to the distances that these lenses are most frequently used at. At the same subject to camera distance, a change between focal lengths is optically analogous to a crop of the image.

    Thanks so much for this. I suppose I have trust issues which is why I never considered AI to cull or edit my photos. Now after your video I am considering this. I have spent years in Lightroom. I will look at the websites of Aftershoot and Imagen to learn what this looks like when the culled images are moved to LR. For example, I am curious if after the AI culling are all images (rejects and keeps) in LR with stars and / or color ratings, do I get to choose what ratings I want transferred to LR? That is correct but that is not the point. If you do not move then the perspective does not change. But you would be photographing his nose rather than his face if you do not move. So in order to do a portrait with a longer lens you have to move back and that changes the shape of the face.
